Free-Markets believes that sustainability is the fashion of the future. We are committed to finding the perfect balance between business and sustainability. We also use our commercial influence to push all aspects of textile production to meet sustainable standards. We ensure sustainable production standards and traceability by applying for our own certification and promoting certification throughout the cooperative supply chain.
GRS
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of Recycled Content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. Free-Markets has been certified by GRS for 5 consecutive years since 2016, and has driven the certification of the entire cooperative supply chain.
GOTS
The Global organic textile standard is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Free-Markets got the GOTS certification in 2019.
B CORP
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Free-Markets is in the process of applying for B Corp and expects to be certified by B Corp in 2022.
SEDEX
Sedex is one of the world’s leading ethical trade membership organizations, working with businesses to improve working conditions in global supply chains. Free-Markets are also members of SEDEX.
BSCI
(BSCI) is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains. Free-Markets has also been BSCI certified for many years.
OEKO-TEX 100
Oeko-Tex 100 certificates confirm the human-ecological safety of textile products and leather articles from all stages of production along the textile value chain and also attest to socially and environmentally sound conditions in production facilities. Free Markets also have this certification.
BLUESIGN
The bluesign® system is a program for more sustainable textile production. This ensures that the final textile product meets stringent consumer safety requirements. Free-Markets high-quality fabrics from fabric suppliers certified by Bluesign for the manufacture of garments.
ISO14001
ISO 14000 is a standard related to environmental management that exists to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment, comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and continually improve in the above. Some of Free-Markets’s partner factories are ISO14001 certified.
